Susan Wu (A/P)The CDS story is all about people. At the 30 year mark, CDS boasts long-standing relationships, both within the company as well as with growers, shippers, wholesalers, retailers, exporters and importers.
The CDS people are the reason behind the company's stellar reputation in the produce industry. The name CDS stands for the last names of the initiating partners, Craig Campbell, Joe D'Agosta and Haru Sakaji. At that time the office staff consisted of Ivy Chen, the first controller and the controller today. The early days of CDS were guided by a basic principal: build strong, long lasting relationships with growers, shippers, customers and employees by making service and quality really mean something. That was CDS in the beginning and that is CDS of today.
Founder Craig Campbell had a vision for the company's when the original partners retired. To help facilitate the direction, Craig asked his friend Rodney D'Acquisto, whom he knew from the wholesale produce market, to join him in 1984. After working side by side for 23 years, the aspects of their personalities that compliment each other have grown stronger. Together they have created a company based on knowledge that comes from a lifetime in the apple business: growing, shipping, wholesaling, retailing, importing and exporting.
CDS is always considering new ways to do old things. They are continually improving their business model to better assist their partners in business. Their dedication and commitment remains unsurpassed. Their goal has always been to find ways to better serve both their customers and shippers, so that a community is created where everyone can grow and thrive together.
